Funk Heritage Center - Sellars Historic Handtools
While visiting my mom this weekend, we went to the Funk Heritage Center. I'd seen signs as I drove north through Jasper, GA on the way to the mountains but I never really looked into what it's all about. Located on the campus of Reinhardt College, the FHC is a small museum dedicated to the history and culture of Cherokee County, and has a focus on Native cultures and their existence in- and removal from - Cherokee County.
The whole museum is neat, and I'd recommend visiting in general but I have to say the coolest part was the Sellars collection of historic handtools. They were collected by Alan and Louise Sellars over several decades. Working with friends and employees, they displayed them in incredibly organized panels and later gave the collection to the university.
